    Merry Christmas Everyone

Another year with this occassion we call "Christmas"...

What is Christmas? Is it a time to party - get drunk or have fun wishing one and other? I think I can define this time in another way... Wish everyone we meet this year, "Merry Hope - Joy - Peace & Love"... I think we need these actions in our lives to help us live better and, most of all, with one and other...

I don't want to sound like a person beyond my "calling of age" but I was touched by a person I came aross in Church... After mass, my family & myself were leaving out, when a ederly gentleman passed by us, saw my daugher and wished her "Merry Christmas" and hugged her... then proceeded to wish me... I, of course, wished him too... He didn't know us but still came forward to wish us... I guess he wanted to spread the joys of Christmas... Silly of me, I didn't stop to ask him his kind name and perhaps get to know him... I still would like to thank him for making this change this year...

My wish to all of you, my family & friends, is to seek & spread "hope - joy - peace & love"... We all need to receive & return these gifts... Let's help one and other to live better - bring the world a little closer to each other...  Like "Band Aid" in the 80's sung "We are the World" - I guess this song should be combined with the spirit of Christmas.

On a more religious blessing... Peace to you and your family this & every Christmas... May the Lord shine his Joys upon your worries... May the Love that you seek for - find you and stay with your heart for ever... And may the Hope of a bright new tomorrow come your way always...

I would like to thank one and all for all the Christmas greetings that you have sent...

    Our Christmas Eve Dinner

This year my wife and myself decided that we'd do something different for this Christmas eve... Our tradition has always been this... Have a light dinner, then attend the mid-night mass in Chruch and come home - wish each other - off to sleep... Coz one of us would always have to work at the office.

This year, we've all got off and the kids off from school... The Chruch mass was held at 6pm in Salmiya (1st Christmas eve mass in English). The Mass was not so crowded, as expected, and the Choir was quite good with upbeat hymns. After mass, we wished other attendees and came home...

Home Sweet Home!!! wished each other and now for the our surprise dinner plan... The plan was to make something that didn't include the traditional Christmas meal, as back home... Our new plan was "Grilled Chicken Breasts" with "Mashed Potatoes" - I know it does not seem Christmassy... But this is quite different for us...

    Our secret receipe...
"Grilled Chicken Breasts" - Chicken breast halved as to open like a book... The standard, salt & pepper for the taste... Rub finely chopped herbs (little parsley & oregano) on the opened breasts... Place thinly sliced mortedalla on one side & close as to make the same breast piece again... Dip the chicken breast in beaten egg, to fully coat the chicken... Now for the finale, coat the chicken in Crushed Cornflakes (mixed with chilli powder, salt & pepper)... Let it rest for a little while... Place all the coated chicken breast on a baking tray and put in a hot oven for 30 minutes till you find the crust turning Golden Brown & of course the chicken is cooked.
"Mashed Potatoes" - Boil potatoes and mix with sour cream... Throw in a little salt with parsely thickly cut... Mix everything.... volla!!! it done...
All these served with "Soft drinks" for the kids... (they get sodas during parties - not something daily...)

Well the dinner was great... The kids actually ate a whole piece of the thick chicken breast...

    My early Christmas Gift

I would like to thank my wife for her beautiful gift of a fantastic digital camera for this Christmas. She did give me before Christmas - hmmmm.... just in time for Crystal's Birthday party.

These are some of the technical specs.... The camera model is DMC-FX50S Lumix 7.2 Megapixel Digital Camera with 3.6x Optical Zoom, MEGA Optical Image Stabilization and 3.0" Diagonal LCD, Silver.

You would have noticed a different in the quality of pics before Crystal's Party and now. I got a chance to use the camera on her Party.

I love this camera, coz it's got all these function (probably would take me years to learn) but I still say it's the best. I was blown away with the 3 inch LCD screen... Wow!! it does make alot of difference when you want to capture a lot of images in a hurry.

    Crystal's Birthday Party

Birthdays!!!  One of the most wonderful day for a child during the entire year... We, Dad & Mum, celebrated Crystal's birthday on Friday, 15th at 12 noon at our residence in Kuwait. We had our relatives, some friends and their kids over. On the whole, the afternoon to evening was wonderful with fun activities.

The afternoon began by welcoming of all guest (invitees) home. After everyone settled in, we served soft drinks & beverages to quinch the thirst... To stop move the bellies, home-made snacks were served - Cheese Sandwiches (herbs with anari), Chicken mortedalla Sandwiches & Tuna herb Sandwiches. Of course, these were my inventions. Moving on to the main event, cutting of the Birthday cake - Soft Chocolate cake with cream butter frosting & chocolate shaving on top, made by Dad & Mum. Hmmmm.... we are still learning to bake the ultimate cake and learn how to cream down words on the cake. You'll notice the wonderful cake missing the words

Now the fun begins with the Kids games conducted by our dear friend Fiona. The 1st game "Passing the Teddy Bear"... lasted for a little while and ended up with 2 winners, Conrad & Anora. The 2nd game "Bombing the Locations"... was another interesting turn around with 2 winners, Valusa & Conrad. Conrad did get luck that day winning both games. 2nd game was won by Brother & Sister. Congrats to the winners. The kids was made to dance to nice kiddies songs like "Birdie Dance", "Hokey Pokey", "Simon Says", etc.

The adults, feeling left out, now had to participate in a new game called "Balance the Match Sticks on the bottle"... This is something new that I had ever seen. This game was introduced by Fiona and each adult had to come in turn and put their mind to test. The goal of the game is to place the match sticks over another, on the coke bottle top, and not to topple off the other sticks. The person left having their stick or sticks stil on the top is the winner. We had 2 winners, Agnelo & Queiry... From what I heard, this game really set a record of heights reached.

While the Adult game played on, we started to get the food all hot and served on the Dinning Table. The food was laid as from Salad - Main Course - Fried. Salads was Coleslaw & Hommos. Main Course was Green Peas Pulao, Betroot Veggies, Green Chicken Curry, Mutton Vindalo, Channa Masala, Potato Mince Chops, Beef Roast Meat, Mixed Pasta with Chicken & Beef, Iddli. Desert was Fruit Salad with the Birthday Cake.

    Missed being online

On 29th of November, there was a sudden cut of the Telephone lines .  I was on the net, as usual, and then no signal.  Showing my technical skills, I got out my testing equipments, spare phone (seemed like I was about to set up a Telecom Tower ).  After checking all wire links at home and there being no problems, I walked over to see if there's some MOC guy working with the DB.  But no one was there.
This really pissed me off !!!

Later, I heard that MOC decided to change over from Analog to Digital service in the Salmiya Area.  Well, it took about a week to get my line back.  Hurray for that ...
    Now I'm back online...

This goes to show, how we are addicted to the Internet and our day to day activity is based on it.
